AN UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURE - JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK
To be honest, we did not know this place until recently. But when we made the plan for our trip to California, we were thankful to Instagram. The Joshua Tree National Park is a sprawling national park in Southern California, which is protected and named after the very unique shaped Joshua trees. Sounds a bit less exciting at first, but we'll tell you in this blog post an absolute insider tip, which makes this place something very special. Get ready!!!
Yes, basically, the Joshua Tree National Park is a nature reserve that does not look much more than the typical Joshua Trees, rocks and desert. However, in our research we came across something truly unique, which totally blew our minds and what we really want to share with you.
JOSHUA TREE ACRES
If you feel like having an unforgettable experience, you should be very careful now. In the middle of the national park are 4 unique Airstreams, in other words camper wagons, which can be rented for overnight stays. No, this is not a usual camping site, but probably the hippest accommodation you can imagine in a nature reserve. These 4 Airstreams are fully developed, newly renovated and invite you to a getaway that you will not forget soon. Each car even has its own small porch with hammocks and other seating.
This property also includes a clubhouse, which can be shared by all guests. There are two bathrooms, a kitchen and plenty of seating. A place to cook and cozy get together with your "neighbors". It is even equipped with musical instruments and card games. So you definitely will not get bored.
Even if you are in the middle of nowhere, you are not cut off from civilization. The nearest town, Joshua Tree, is about 15 minutes from the property. There are both supermarkets, as well as restaurants. We recommend you stock up on food and drinks for your stay. If you do not want to cook we can recommend the Frontier Café in Yucca Valley for breakfast and the Thai Restaurant Royal Siam for dinner.
Oh and at the next gast station then take a little firewood with you. We'll tell you why. :)
One of the many features of the property is the hot tub. Starting your day in a hot jacuzzi, watching the sunrise and listening to the birds is definitely unique!
But not only the whirlpool invites you to relax. As you walk across the property, you'll find a cool surprise next to the other. From a salt water pool over two free-standing bathtubs in the middle of the wilderness to hammocks everything is there. Even an ancient pizza oven is ready for you and gives you the opportunity to bake a delicious wood-fired pizza.
Incidentally, it really pays to get up early, as both the sunrises and the sunsets will amaze you. Such an intense play of colors in the sky we have never seen before !!! Just amazing. Just as fascinating is the starry sky after sunset. We saw four shooting stars there in one evening! Even if you are not romantic, we promise you will spend the nights just staring there! And that's exactly what you should get the firewood for, because there are some fire pits in the area where you can make a campfire. So you can imagine how we spent our evenings there: sitting around the fire with food and wine, staring, philosophizing about life and Elliott suddenly got the guitar out of the clubhouse and made music by the way. These are the moments we will never forget!
If you have decided to visit this unique place, it is probably time to provide some information.
You can find and book the Airstreams via AirBnB (keyword: Joshua Tree Acres) . The accommodation is very popular and therefore we recommend that you book well in advance. We were relatively late and were really lucky that a camper car was free for us.
We booked the smallest, but still beautiful "kind of blue 1959 airstream".
BEST TRAVEL TIME
Basically, you can say that you can visit the Joshua Tree National Park around the year. There is generally very little rain. The maximum temperatures are 40 degrees Celsius in the summer (July) and the lowest temperature in December and January at just 19 degrees. Only at night it can be very cold, especially in winter. Therefore, we advise you to pack a few thick sweaters and socks.
If you would like to visit the national park, we recommend renting your own car, as this is the best way to get around and explore the huge nature reserve. The most sensible thing is to combine this adventure with some other stops in the US. For example, you can make a stopover on your road trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Or you just drive directly from LA to Joshua Tree just as we did. The journey takes about 2.5 hours.
We hope we could take you on a little adventure with this insider tip and convince you to visit this wonderful place! We look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing your stories!

P.S. If you see one or two shooting stars, make a wish! :)
